Adding date: 21.07.2016 | UK

Fast-expanding search and discovery technology company Nalanda Technology is delighted to announce two new key appointments as it develops its core service offering within the Big Data search market.

George Steven has joined the company as a Solution Consultant. He brings with him 25 years’ experience delivering complex ICT solutions to the SME, manufacturing, financial and enterprise markets.  George has extensive experience in operations, sales management, project management, technical consulting and systems and process management. He has held senior positions at Accenture, SAS and Brewin Dolphin.

Also joining the Glasgow office is Margaret Warrington as Product Manager. She has 30 years’ experience of working with technology companies spanning technical writing, training, customer service, marketing, and for the last 9 years, Product Management. An MBA alumnus, Mags brings extensive business expertise to the role.  Having spent over 15 years working with enterprise search and analysis solutions, Margaret is well placed to help drive the strategic direction of Nalanda’s product portfolio.

David Rivett, Co-Founder and COO of Nalanda Technology said: “We are delighted to welcome George and Margaret to the team. With George’s background across the technology sector and Mags’ level of experience, they will both contribute greatly to the ongoing development of our innovative search and discovery platform - ‘Nalytics’ - a unique cloud solution for searching and extracting knowledge and information from unstructured data".

These key appointments confirm the Company’s commitment to creating a new standard for search and discovery across the world of unstructured data and we are looking forward to George and Mags helping the team in expanding our product portfolio.

We are gaining real market traction with Nalytics already being used across sectors such as investigative journalism, legal, and financial services and feedback from users has been outstanding.

He added: “Back in in 2013, the company’s founders had a vision. They wanted to develop and deliver a core software solution that was innovative, simple to use, fast and effective. We have definitely achieved this with Nalytics and are delighted that the Company is going from strength to strength.”

In addition to these key appointments, Nalanda is also working with two students from Stirling University as part of e-Placement Scotland and The Data Lab’s MSc Industry Placement Programme. Both students are studying for an MSc in Big Data and as part of their final module are carrying out ‘real world’ projects using the Nalytics search platform.

David explains: “E-Placement Scotland approached us about this industry placement programme which we thought would be an ideal opportunity to demonstrate how Nalytics could be used on ‘real world’ Big Data projects.”

Both students are working on extremely interesting research projects - one of the students is using ‘natural language processing’ techniques to enhance the care that can be provided by health and social care services.

The other student is using ‘sentiment analysis techniques’ against Hansard, the publications from the House of Commons. The purpose of this project is to monitor and analyse text for sentiment of a specific topic, with the ability to show the changing sentiment over time where a timeline or chronology exists. Nalytics is proving an ideal tool for both projects.

He adds: “Working with the students on these Big Data projects has confirmed how versatile our Nalytics solution is for undertaking research like this.”

Designed to be easy and intuitive to use, the Nalytics platform is presented as Software as a Service, so can be accessed by any device or browser and does not require any software download. Users can be searching for data within minutes of deployment. Nalytics places the power into the end user’s hands, and when deployed means all key information is quickly findable and organised – the level of search precision is second to none.

Nalytics helps individuals, teams and entire organisations access and analyse their data to enhance insight, drive innovation and deliver efficiencies. Cutting edge technology delivering powerful search, analytical and explorative capabilities.
